Safari Aitana: a day among free-roaming animals
High up in the mountains, at about 1,000 metres altitude, Safari Aitana offers a completely different experience from a traditional zoo. The park covers more than 1,500,000 m² where herbivores roam freely and you observe them from your vehicle.
Elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, tigers, hippos and ostriches are some of the animals you can see up close. It is a fantastic opportunity for the little ones to learn about wildlife from different continents.
How the safari visit works
- Car route: The main circuit is about 7 kilometres. You do it in your own vehicle, keeping the windows down in the herbivore area, but strictly closed in the feline enclosure.
- VIP guided tour (optional): If you want a more immersive experience, the park offers visits with keepers, who tell you curiosities about each animal.
- Daktari area: An area you walk through, similar to a small zoo or farm, perfect for children to stretch their legs and see smaller animals.
Merce's tip: Try to arrive at the Safari early or during scheduled feeding times. The animals are much more active and you will have the opportunity to see them up close and interact with the keepers.
Casa Inés: your accommodation next to Safari Aitana
If you plan to visit Safari Aitana, Casa Inés in Penáguila is one of the closest accommodations.
We are just 6 kilometres (about 10 minutes by car) from the park entrance. By staying here, you avoid the early start needed if travelling from the coast (Benidorm or Alicante). You can have a leisurely breakfast, be at the Safari first thing in the morning, and return to the house at midday to eat and rest, something that is greatly appreciated when travelling with young children.
Coming to the Safari with your family?
Stay 10 minutes away at Casa Inés. Our rural house has 4 rooms and capacity for 7 people, ideal for family groups.
